There is a crisis in Pakistan that no one talks about at home, at school, or at work — because we are taught to stay silent.
*1 in 3 Pakistanis* suffers from anxiety, depression, or stress. Among university students, the number is even higher. But *90% never get help.* Why? Because we call it “tension”, “drama”, “weakness”, or “lack of faith.” A student who is depressed is told to “just pray and study harder.” A girl who is anxious is told to “stop overthinking.” A boy who is stressed is told to “be a man.”
The result is devastating. Students drop out. Young professionals burn out. Families break. And in the worst cases, young people take their own lives — silently, without anyone knowing they were struggling.
And mental health is not the only silent killer. Pakistan has:
– *33 million diabetics* — one of the highest rates in the world, and now hitting youth at 20-25 years old
– *Breast cancer* — highest rate in Asia, because women detect it too late due to shame and fear
– *Hepatitis, heart disease, and hypertension* — killing people at 40 who should live to 70
We do not die because there is no treatment. We die because we detect it *too late.*
Punjab has just started mental health training for teachers for the first time. That is a historic step. But training alone is not enough. We need screening, counselling, and a culture where asking for help is seen as strength, not weakness.
*In this seminar, we will show:*
– The real mental health numbers in Pakistani universities — and why students hide it
– Live screening: How 5 minutes can detect diabetes, blood pressure, and stress early
– How teachers and parents can spot warning signs — and save a life by asking one question
– How corporates and hospitals can sponsor mental health training for 1 school, 1 university, 1 community
*Why you must attend:* Because every family in Pakistan has someone silently struggling. If we talk about it today, we can save them tomorrow. Silence is killing us. Speaking up will save us.
