Context & Key Challenges in Pakistan’s Startup Ecosystem
Pakistan’s startup sector has shown promising potential in recent years, but systemic hurdles continue to inhibit sustained growth and innovation:
- Lack of early-stage funding and venture capital access
- Bureaucratic red tape, regulatory uncertainty, and weak IP enforcement
- Gaps in business incubation and acceleration beyond major cities
- Lack of mentorship and guidance for first-time entrepreneurs
- Limited investor readiness among startups (pitching, valuation, compliance)
- Poor digital infrastructure and uneven access to global markets
- Brain drain due to lack of confidence in domestic startup sustainability
- Disconnection between academia, industry, and innovation ecosystem
The Alliance Startups Forum aims to tackle these challenges by serving as a national platform for collaboration, capacity-building, and ecosystem development.
