Alliance Farmers’ Forum
Vision
To transform the lives of farmers in Pakistan by empowering them with knowledge, tools, financial access, and policy support—ensuring a more productive, profitable, and dignified future for the backbone of our nation.
Context & Purpose
Despite being the largest segment of Pakistan’s workforce, farmers—especially smallholders—face persistent and interconnected challenges:
- Low profitability due to rising input costs and poor market prices
- Dependence on outdated farming techniques and limited access to modern machinery
- Debt cycles caused by lack of affordable credit and exploitative middlemen
- Climate change impacts, water shortages, and soil degradation
- Inadequate crop insurance and disaster resilience
- Limited access to value chains, storage, and markets
- Lack of formal education and digital illiteracy
- Exclusion from policymaking and weak institutional representation
The Alliance Farmers’ Forum seeks to be a platform that addresses these barriers through practical, policy-oriented, and farmer-led solutions.
Objectives
- Giving a formal role in policy making
- Enhance Farmer Knowledge & Skills – Promote modern, sustainable, and profitable agricultural practices.
- Facilitate Financial Inclusion – Improve access to affordable credit, insurance, subsidies, and grants.
- Strengthen Market Access – Help farmers connect directly with markets, buyers, and cooperatives to reduce dependency on middlemen.
- Promote Climate-Smart Agriculture – Build resilience against climate shocks through education and adaptive practices.
- Empower Marginalized Farmers – Focus on smallholders, women, and youth in rural areas.
- Advocate for Farmer-Friendly Policies – Represent farmer voices in national debates on pricing, taxation, subsidies, and land reforms.
- Encourage Agri-Entrepreneurship – Support the transition of farmers from subsistence to value-creating enterprises.
