Alliance Lecturers Forum
Vision
To empower lecturers across Pakistan through career development, academic excellence, and institutional advocacy—transforming them into catalysts for quality education, research, and national progress.
Context: Challenges Faced by Lecturers in Pakistan
Lecturers form the foundation of higher education in Pakistan, yet they face deep-rooted systemic and professional challenges in both the public and private sectors:
Public Sector Challenges:
- Long delays in regular appointments and promotions
- Limited training and research opportunities
- Political interference in recruitment and departmental operations
- High student-teacher ratios and lack of modern teaching resources
- Stagnant salary structures and minimal incentives for performance
- Poor institutional governance and lack of academic freedom
Private Sector Challenges:
- Low and inconsistent salaries, often without job security or benefits
- Contract-based hiring with no path to tenure or promotion
- Overburdened with excessive teaching loads and administrative duties
- Minimal opportunities for research or professional development
- Lack of compliance with labour protections and academic standards
